hey hey, im currently buildin an L24 with 2.6 crank and rods. forged pistons board out to a 2.815L (this way when a cop pulls me ova and ive got a blower on my engine i cant get in $^!# for adr's) lightend fw, cam, etc. at the moment im going for a 280zx Efi sytem, im not force feeding just yet but the engine will be built for it when i get around to it, my problem is what head to use, i will be using larger valves no matter what but which one would give me a good compression ratio without to much chamber work?

also im interested in peoples opinions on the 280zx Efi sytem?

cheers

two_fourty_zed,

I dont understand your problem with ADR'S. What model Z are you running. If you are going to run injection on your engine you cant really go wrong when it comes to getting power out. If you have built up the engine in such a way you will have to check your measurements to work out where your compression is going to come in for a given block/head combination,N42 is probably going to be the main contender as it will provide tracktable power with injection on nearly all combinations. Post any problems you get along the way as a lot of people can help with the injection and tweeking.

i dunno about the rest of Australia but ive lernt from transportSA that it is legal to upgrade the engine to an L28 but not legal to force feed an L28, but it is legal to force the original engine (L24). so by using an L24 block it would appear to be legal to a defect station but internaly it will be a 2.8L

comprehenday??

cheers

Not sure about the engine swap side of stuff, however where abouts in SA are you? I have only found a couple of people over here that have Z's. There are a few good local sources for parts, PM if you want them.

The deal basically is you have to have the brakes or equivelant from whatever car the motor came out of. I think what he is trying to do is to get the equivelant of an L28, while maintaining his original block, so the boys in blue won't know the difference.

If you do a search on this site, you will find information from a previous thread regarding the legalities of putting an L28ET into a 240Z in SA.

In short: I have got approval to put an L28ET (home-made) into my 240Z with the Hilux front calipers & R31 rear brakes.

My car must be inspected before registration, but does not need an AIP or engineers report.

Hopefully it'll be ready soon....

Having said that, you can put a blower onto a 240Z L24 with no reservations. You can also fit alternative pistons etc, so there is NO REASON why a hybrid L24 block specced out to 2.6, 2.7, 2.8 or whatever capacity will not be legal.

(been there, done that too)
