siteunseen Posted February 27, 2022 Share #1 Posted February 27, 2022 I found 4 original scallops today for $100. They look great too. pictures when I get them, they're already removed from Marketplace and I didn't get a copy of the image beforehand. They will be the last original parts I need for when the time comes to sell my baby doll. Many years from now.

siteunseen Posted February 28, 2022 Author Share #5 Posted February 28, 2022 The red Zs are over $100 from MSA. Blems are $79 plus shipping. I'm about to figure out this e-commerce thing and make some extra dough-ray-me. Not with these scallops though, they ain't leaving except in the hatch when I sell it.

zKars Posted March 10, 2022 Share #8 Posted March 10, 2022 There’s that ‘thou shalt not covet wife and good’s’ thing, but I’m hoping it doesn’t cover car parts, cuz I have a real covet worked up over here! Great find! Congrats 1

siteunseen Posted March 11, 2022 Author Share #11 Posted March 11, 2022 @CanTechZ need some advice. I soaked these caps in Murphy's oil soap and hot water then cleand them with a Scotch brite pad. They cleand up nice. I'm going to wax them with Maguire's #7 to get some color back. I want them to look original from '72 to go with the car when I sale it. My question is, should I spray them with the matte stuff you used or just clean and wax the best I can and be done? I've got an all original car so I don't want too nice of caps popping out when I sale. Thank you for any advice.
CanTechZ Posted March 11, 2022 Share #12 Posted March 11, 2022 Kind of a tough call. Actually I don't have much experience with painting so I can't say if it's a good idea to spray the matte clear over the existing original paint. One thing I would try, at least in a small test is to use a cleaner like Dupli-Color grease and wax remover. It would be a good prep to remove any last bit of residue from the Murph's and scotch brite process. I'm not familiar with Maguires #7 wax, but I thought you would usually remove any wax prior to paint with clear. I've use a lot of this stuff with good results on various cleaning/prep jobs.
