March 12, 20223 yr comment_637131 I'm thinking you need to remove the heat riser to install the 6to1 and the carb heat shields. March 12, 20223 yr Author comment_637132 I have headers on mine. I must say that I haven't tried to hard to put in place yet. When I bought the header, I really didn't put much thought into which one to buy. I wish I would have don'e a bit more homework. Is it safe to assume that I don't want the heat shield touching the header after it's installed? March 12, 20223 yr comment_637133 See if you can bend the heat shield a bit to clear the header and yes, ideally you want an air gap between the header and shield. Also, the heat shield is typically the mounting point for the carb return springs. March 12, 20223 yr comment_637134 I think it would make an annoying sound if it touches? Try bending like Mr Arnett says but on my 280's 6to1 I had to Dremel the vertical shield to fit. Also the transmission. The header barely made contact and I hate hearing things that don't belong. March 12, 20223 yr Author comment_637142 I'll try tweaking the heat shield a bit and report back. Regarding the return springs, I have them rigged with a piece of wire to put tension on them. It would definitely make my life easier if I can get the heat shield corrected.
