240's were metal, 280 went to plastic. I would not recommend putting them in the oven.

I am not sure about reproductions, I seem to remember a FB ad for some made of metal but shady looking outfit and expensive.

They come up on eBay from time to time.

So guys I decided to do some patch work on my panels. I used JB weld to strengthen plastic around holes etc and it is looking good.

Need some opinion on the color 🙂 i found this pic on ebay on the list. My initial paint was all black but i didn't liked it. So i bought a Matt Grey from homedepot and it did not quite turned out to be the color in ebay product.

I think it is kind of a smoky grey color. I am planning to try smoky grey kind of thing ...

Appreciate if someone know a closer match I can find at a local store?

Just did my '71 tail light panels in December - although not sure if it's the same color shade used on the 280s.  Sanded the panels, sprayed Rust-Oleum Ultra Cover Flat Gray Primer, wet sanded, sprayed Dupli-Color Perfect Match BFM0360 Dark Shadow Gray (CX) replaces T299, let sit for a day and then sprayed with Rust-Oleum Ultra Cover Matte Clear.  I'm pleased with the results in terms of color and texture.
