Seems that lately we have had a few of those.Guys we damn sure know what makes ourZ's NOT run.A hidden switch is an excellent thing for all. Those of you that are rewiring your baby will never have a better chance to hide a wire in the new harness.Be creative! The only problem is you cant tell anyone how clever you were!ROFL

Well I have just finished pulling the previous owners attempts out of my cars, and here are the ideas. In behind the fuel filler, totally invisible, that was for the alarm, and under the dash for the immoboliser.

I've always wanted to stick one under the cigarette tray.

A Push button one like the BRE race cars would be awesome under there.

Sorta like the "Go Baby Go" on the mustang in Gone In Sixty Seconds. :classic:

For my sister's Silvia I got an alarm from Jaycar, replaced the convenient multi-coloured wring with all black, and spent two days wiring it into every part of the car I could think of. Didn't cost much and should confound any theif without a forklift.

Before I did it I spoke to a couple of alarm places and one said not to fit a fuel pump immobiliser on its own as that's the first thing that theives look for.

If you have an electric fuel pump only, break the power circuit with a relay, and wire it to a hidden switch.

Heard a story about a guy that wired it to his demister switch, and rewired the demister to another switch. Would have driven the theif crazy looking for the right switch when the car got stolen while the guy was at the movies. They eventually gave up and the guy found the car just down the road with the bonnet open. He closed the bonnet, hopped in, turned on the demister switch and drove home.

Something I came across years ago, is still very effective today. It is simple, cheap and it works. Instead of just putting in a hidden switch that opens the circuit to one of the coil leads, to stop the car from being started. A better idea is to take it one step further and use this switch to not only open circuit the coil wire first-off, but to also provide a new circuit to the coil via a low amperage slo-blo fuse. The theory here is that the car-jacker will be briefly able to start the car, then when the fuse blows and it will not re-start, he will think it is a problem with the car and not an anti theft device and hopefully give up.

Personally I like the metal spike under the seat that impales the driver when they dont disarm the device before attempting to start the car. (Much like the cat carrier in the funny posts section).

If it would then dice the thief into small peices and dump the in the river even better.

wire in a starter button in the bottom of the cigar lighter so when you want to start the engine mearly turn the key to run and push the lignter . if you want connect the horn to the start detent so when the ignition switch is turned to start it blows the horn. this works two ways making noise as well as confuse the thief. my 2c:classic:

Right. pretty soon starting the car will go like this:

get in the car, wind the window down to disarm fuel pump cut out switch hidden in the door, Flick drivers sun shade up and the passengers down, depress clutch 18 times, while holding brake pedal down, rotate rear vision mirror 180 degrees, do the macarena and turn the key.ROFL

Just invest in a quality car alarm/immobiliser system.

(and have a hidden kill switch just in case).:bandit:

Or you could do what the previous owner of my 1600 did, install a killer alarm system, wired to both airhorns and claxon thing, then in a moment of genius, install a battery isolator switch which also turns off the alarm system ROFL
