Posted June 21, 200321 yr comment_41555 Ok, hooked up the petronix and it worked. Nice. My question is.... If I buy the flame thrower coil do I have to still use the Ballist Resistor or do I or can I remove it? If I do remove it do I simply move the wires from the ballist resistor over to the coil? Thank you in advance for the help. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/6727-one-more-petronix-question/ Share on other sites
June 21, 200321 yr comment_41559 I retained my ballast resistor when installing the Flame Thrower coil. I do not know if it can be eliminated, but unless you are racing, my opinion is that removal doesn't make for any appreciable improvement in performance, so I choose to leave it alone.just my $.02 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/6727-one-more-petronix-question/#findComment-41559 Share on other sites
June 21, 200321 yr comment_41566 I removed the resistor. Read the resistor was there because the points could not handle the current. With the points gone I installed a MSD coil.
