Posted June 23, 200321 yr comment_41679 Well i finally got a replacement amp meter and now i'm trying to figure out why the it is always getting power... as soon as i hook up the battery the meter goes all the way to the right... does anyone have an idea on what is wrong? June 24, 200321 yr comment_41824 The shunt is the low resistance resistor across which the amp meter measures a voltageto derermine the current in the charging circuit.If you have an ohm meter, there should be very little (practically zero) resistance across the leads of the amp meter.(Does anyone know if the shunt is internal or external on the Z Amp meters?) June 24, 200321 yr comment_41828 I know it's external, also has a couple of fuses attached. From memory it's located , I can't remember without going out to the car, perhaps someone else can step in.
