Can someone give me an idea where to start with this? DO i pick out the tires first or wheels? based on what i have read in other posts here a good wheel/tire 

is 205/50R15? Would a bolt pattern 4x100 be the proper one for a 71 240z? I see some that are 110 or 114....not sure about that

thanks. 2 other things. 1) machine lipped....does this matter?   2)offset. is there a certain offset needed, if any

I like the machined shiny lip, goes good with the bumpers and window trim on my car. Msa has all black rewinds that look more race...y?...ie?

0 offset and 4x114.3 like Jim says above. I bought 2 sets from discount tire a few years ago. They were the least expensive I could find then.

Here is the Konig Rewind in the 16" version - silver finish with machined lip, 0 offset. The tire size is 205/55X16 as per other's recommendations. This setup will closely match the OE tire diameter and avoid speedo errors. You can sometimes catch them on sale at MSA, try and watch for free shipping. Discount Tire is also an excellent source, especially if you negotiate a wheel & tire package discount.

Anyone recommend what set of lug nuts will fit this? Guy at discount tire asked if acorns will fit....i have no idea

You need 12 x 1.25 conical seat spline drive lug nuts.  Mcgard are very high quality and what I used.

Many one here have the rewinds, I have rota's, some will confirm what the rewinds need.

I had to slightly dent my bearing cap for the Koning center cap to fit nice and snug too.

Here's those pictures I mentioned earlier. The 16s on the 240 look too big but I should have gotten a smaller tire. 

First 2 are the 16s, rest are OE 14s plus 14s on the aluminum slots.

 

 

 

My vote is 16”s, and that what I put on my car was 205/55R16 and you’re done. Perfect fit, no rubbing and lots of tire options. I spent so much time researching this . You’ll be happy.

I have 16" on my 280 but 15s on my 240. The 16s on the 240 remind me of a favorite toy I had as a kid, Stompers. 

I've got some good pictures of the 16s on a 240 I had but sold. They're on my laptop though and I only get it out to pay bills. So in the next couple of days I will post some photos and let you see what I saw.
 

When did you sell the 240z? This is a mortal sin for a forum member.

That's why I'm not married. I would have to have more than one.
