Posted May 8, 20222 yr comment_640174 I have a 75 and the fuel pump runs in the on position I know that is wrong so I started sleuthing. I opened my AFM and I noticed that even when the flap is fully closed the points circled are always making contact. I have read that’s the fuel shutoff switch so it makes sense to me if there was some gap when the flap is fully closed right? If so should I just bend the thicker wire more straight to get some separation? May 8, 20222 yr comment_640185 Well before you go bending stuff, I think it would be important to know if someone had been in there before messing around. Can you / could you tell if someone had been into the AFM before you? May 8, 20222 yr comment_640186 I had a problem for a while with low idle RPM killing my fuel pump power and bent the rod to keep it powered. There should be a gap when the vane/flap is closed. Might be that somebody in the past adjusted yours. There might be other adjustments, but the switch should definitely be open, have a gap, when the vane is shut. That's the whole point of the switch. May 9, 20222 yr Author comment_640200 Just reporting back that it was indeed that contact that was causing the fuel pump to run with the key in the on position I bent it very slightly away from the contact and now it is running like it should Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/67467-75-fuel-pump-running/#findComment-640200 Share on other sites
