July 18, 20222 yr Author comment_642586 I dumped the contaminated oil from the pump added some, dumped that, then refilled. Have not plugged it in again, hoping I did not hydrolock damage it. Its a nice yellow jacket 2 stage pump.... July 18, 20222 yr comment_642593 LOL!! OK, I got it. So why in a million years did you think that drawing the liquid in using a two-stage vacuum pump was a good idea? Why didn't you just use a funnel and pour it in through a piece of tubing like a normal human would? I suspect the answer has just been provided, but.... Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/67561-1983-280zx-turbo-engine/?&page=4#findComment-642593 Share on other sites

July 18, 20222 yr Author comment_642597 my concern was air pockets, yes a very low probability, just overthinking it. Prob a better use if the entire system was installed in the car with lots of nooks and cranies and loops... live and learn and share the fun! July 18, 20222 yr Author comment_642601 the idea (flawed in execution) was to monitor the clear tube for liquid. the actual uptake was so fast that it caught me off guard. I would have nver fast enough to see the fluid rise and cut off the pump considering how fast the jug was emptied. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/67561-1983-280zx-turbo-engine/?&page=4#findComment-642601 Share on other sites

Ya think?  So that evap-o-rust stuff is almost totally benign, so at least it's not like you did that with Ospho or something else more troublesome. Hopefully you can get your vacuum pump all cleaned out and no harm, no foul. July 18, 20222 yr Author comment_642613 got the freeze plugs in on one side (5) the tool worked great, esp on the one by the CC vent pipe. That would have been a pain as its kinda tight. CO i am not too sure about delrin, it takes a few very solid whack to seat the plug tool up to the shoulder. Not sure if delrin would deliver the needed impaction to fully seat, or at lest you should try it to make sure there is no rebound effect causing lack of full depth of the plug. I won't know for sure until I try it. I may have to make another adapter out of stouter stuff. We'll see.
