Should the hazard light turn on when the headlights go on?  I tested my bulb and it is good.  I haven't seen it turn on though 

 

The hazard switch has a bulb. It should come on with the parking lights/gauge lights.

Here is some fun I had with that bulb socket 4 and a half years ago. 

 

Sounds like I have more fun ahead of me!  I think I need start with the headlight switch.  It is a little flaky.  I have to turn it using slight adjustments to get the headlights to turn on.

Consider adding a load test to your repertoire.  A test light that pulls a few amps.  Connections can open when they heat up from the current.
