There is a 260Z 2+2 for sale at Northbridge Auto Wholesale (the old Toy Shop, near Metros Nightclub Perth) its in the front window next to a Yellow porsche.

I've heard they are asking around (AU)$17,000 for it.

True, there is a nice 2+2 there. Its metallic green and looks to be in good condition... howver my eyes glazed over when I saw it was a 4 seater. The price is $12,999 - about $6G overpriced in my opinion.

I just wish that the market value would wait a few more years before it goes through the roof ...

Alfa I understand the way your thinking now. I sold my 240z and wish I did not my current one is worth more but I paid almost 4k more for this one.

I hope for your sake the value stays low for a little while so that you can buy another.

People always look at my car wherever I go some well off other not so well off. So I think it will become a true classic and possibly something on the rich can afford in future years.

I feel certain that Zeds will increase in value and one way to help is to make it as widely known as possible, just how much of an impact our Zeds made on the world of motoring.

For the debut of "Precious" into the public arena I made up an information board which included photo copies of the original brochure, remarks made by motoring writers and included a list of the Zeds successes in world renowned rallies.

A heck of a lot of people had a good look at "Precious". Even MORE stopped to read my info board. Comments were very encouraging.

It never fails to amaze me how popular and expensive the Healeys, MG's and Triumphs are while our Zeds are only worth a pittance by comparison and yet they were outclassed in almost every way by the Zed when it was introduced.

I hope you are still dropping your extra ten cent pieces into your piggy bank Alfa, you just might need all you can lay your hands on mate.

I totally agree Rick. The value of these cars have pitted (apparently they did so in the late 80s? I didnt know about them then but this is what I heard) and now they're only going up in value. They will surely go up in value only more from now, teh big question is , when will they stop !

Who knows mate. I feel that I'm doing my tiny little bit to help raise their popularity by making it known to as many people as possible just how successful the Zeds were.

I've already had words with an MG owner who didn't believe that the Zeds made MG's look like second raters. I don't think he liked me very much at all.

From my personal point of view, I hope they become as pricey as Austin Healeys. (Which were also outdone by the Zeds).

That's why whenever I was in my Zed and I saw a little convertible MG pissmobile I grinned and bathed in my own knowledge that my car is better than theirs, even though they paid probably twice as much.

Here's something that may be of interest to you mate. It's a few quotes from the April 2002 edition of Just Cars Magazine in which they highlighted the 1970 Datsun 240Z as their Car of The Month.

"So in many ways this is the car that killed the Brittish sports car Phenomenon".

And,

"Leaving aside the E Type, the 240Z eclipsed the MGB, MGC, Healey 3000 and even the smaller GT6/Sprite/Spitfire class couldn't match the value, performance or style of the Datsun".

And,

"The 240Z remains the most agile, sporting and ultimately the most satisfying for the driving enthusiast".

They are the sorts of comments that owners of MG's, Healeys etc. do NOT like to hear.
