Mark Maras Posted October 23, 2023 Share #232 Posted October 23, 2023 If cranking is describing the engine turning over using the starter, the coil has nothing to do with the starter. The engine will turn over using the starter without any coil.
Patcon Posted October 23, 2023 Share #233 Posted October 23, 2023 Plenty of coils could work and start the car but you want the hottest coil you can run that will work with your distributor and ignition!! The hotter the coil is; the less fouling you will have!!! 1
Yarb Posted October 23, 2023 Share #234 Posted October 23, 2023 Please read the specifications for the system and get another coil. We are trying to help. The coil is the heart of the system for spark. Do some research and you’ll begin to understand the theory of operation.

Dont really think its the stock resistor. I believe previous owner changed it. Nevertheless i found an old 3.0 ohms pertronix flamethower in my garage. Should i order a new one and a 3.0 ballast resistor?
