jalexquijano Posted October 26, 2023 Author Share #253 Posted October 26, 2023 These plugs are brand new. First time i run the car after thrashing the old ones when i had the coil wrongly connected. You want me to replace them again?
Mark Maras Posted October 26, 2023 Share #254 Posted October 26, 2023 Replace or clean them. If the engine is running stronger with the wire change, the carboned-up plugs may (hopefully) be too much fuel. How many turns down are the carb nozzles? gundee Posted October 26, 2023 Share #255 Posted October 26, 2023 Plugs are brand new. Clean as best you can and use. They will begin to clean themselves up with the new hot spark. Just keep driving it. Do you know how to use a timing light? Should check where it as at. Keep going. You will be able to smoke the tires soon! No, not until gundee recommends that! Clean the plugs and drive the car...
Yarb Posted October 26, 2023 Share #258 Posted October 26, 2023 Buy a can of carburetor spray. Some 400 grit sand paper and clean them up. Doesn’t take that long to do. Slow down and be patient. You are not there yet but you Have to be Patient. Finally making positive steps. Still a long way to go. This won’t be fixed in a days time. Step by step friend.

How many turns clockwise do you think its enough to avoid the plugs getting fouled?

Cant i just clean and remove the foul with a brass brush?

I seem to recall yours being 3 to 3 1/2 turns down.
Yarb Posted October 26, 2023 Share #262 Posted October 26, 2023 Not sure if it needs to be said but turn them gently.
gundee Posted October 26, 2023 Share #263 Posted October 26, 2023 Hard to say not knowing the air density in Panama. Try just 2 turns down and see how that feels. You can always go more if needed. Sure would be nice to know what the previous owner has the timing set at. If that has never been adjusted.

On the plugs, Its just that you have purchased a few new sets of plugs in the past. You could pick out the best 6 you have unless you threw them all away. If you want to buy another set, thats up to you. Nothing wrong with it except money. Just keep driving it. It should get better.
