April 3, 2024Apr 3 comment_663599 Those contraptions are called non-foulers that were sold many years ago for worn out motors burning oil. Definitely not a permanent fix by any means. They came about over 50 years ago when I worked in my family’s auto part store. August 4, 2024Aug 4 comment_667926 If it were mine I would swap out the entire ignition system. Coil and distributor with no pertronix Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/67984-still-struggling-with-car-at-idle-after-8-years/?&page=33#findComment-667926 Share on other sites

August 4, 2024Aug 4 comment_667930 you can check the cables, but make 100% sure the choke lever on the bottom of the carb is not stuck on. August 4, 2024Aug 4 comment_667950 It does sound like the chokes may be stuck open. This can happen if the screw for the linkage to the choke tube is too tight.
