ennisdavis Posted December 4, 2022 Share #1 Posted December 4, 2022 So I noticed they sell an " inner rocker" but its really a piece (not sure why) that is sandwiched between the outer and inner rocker. I really need the just the real inner part and the front, not the whole rocker. Anyone make it.
emccallum Posted December 5, 2022 Share #2 Posted December 5, 2022 I just replaced both my lower quarters this weekend with patch panels. One inner was in rough shape and I ended up fabricting a patch. Once you open it up, you understand why they all rusted!
ennisdavis Posted December 5, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted December 5, 2022 what is the point of the inner piece shown in the pic above
emccallum Posted December 5, 2022 Share #4 Posted December 5, 2022 If you are replacing that, then you have some serious rust. I wish they made a front fender, I bet they could sell more fenders than that piece.

It's a reinforcement. Probably because that part of the rocker would bulge and shear without it. Always remember automotive manufacturers don't add pieces for no reason! They try to make everything as cheap as possible
87mj Posted December 5, 2022 Share #6 Posted December 5, 2022 I always assumed the inner rocker reinforcement was due to the rockers being a jack point? Anyone?
Patcon Posted December 6, 2022 Share #7 Posted December 6, 2022 That's possible I guess but I don't think they would need to be as long as they are or go all the way to the rear just to make the rocker stiff enough for jacking

THIS part is exactly the part that makes the jackpoints strong! Also when you put the car on a 2 post lift! Lots of people do this wrong because they don't trust that part you are refering to! The middle part in this beam makes it very strong, so strong you can lift your car with a jack without a problem.

Is there a reinforcement in the rear of the rocker too or just the fronts?

On both ends there is a mid-reinforcement, so there is the beam tripple sheet-steel! A good habit would be that buyers always took a look in those beams!! I got a special camera of 4,5 mm (about a 1/6th of an INCH! 😉 ) for this!
wheee! Posted January 2, 2023 Share #11 Posted January 2, 2023 The cowl drain that runs into the front fender "dogleg" then drains into this rocker area too. I added a drain spout from the inner footwell out to the fender area.
