Posted December 10, 20222 yr comment_648062 I have a 2.8L that’s been converted to a mechanical fuel pump. However I popped the valve cover off today and found that no fuel pump eccentric was ever installed.[emoji849] Is the eccentric the same for 240z, 260z, 280z? If so, anyone know where I can find one? Anything special about the install? I see it's also coverted to carbs (As mech.fuelpump and injection would not work together..) You can use any eccentric used in a 240 or 260z or even other mech. fuelpump 6 cyl.cars from nissan i think? They all have the same eccentric for the fuelpump. I assume it does not run..? didn't run? If it runs.. Maybe it has also a electric fuelpump as some 260Z's i heard have those.. (i still find it strange to have 2 fuelpumps.. in series that is!!) but they exist.. Check your fuelpressure in front of the carbs, they don't like a high ( some/most? elec.pump's.) pressure.. December 10, 20222 yr comment_648085 maybe the mechanical pump is for looks along with the carbs. does it have an electric pump as well? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/68038-fuel-pump-eccentric-on-a-28l/#findComment-648085 Share on other sites
December 10, 20222 yr comment_648088 I'm in the same boat as @jonbill. Never seen that before. I'm not sure it would flow enough off the cam nose bolt? The little square on the pump's arm wouldn't be friendly on that big nut's square sides I would think. Stranger things have been seen many times by me on here so who knows? It’s a 72 240z with a L28 that the previous owner dropped in, but never fully finished, as I’m finding out.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/68038-fuel-pump-eccentric-on-a-28l/#findComment-648098 Share on other sites

Doubt the pump would run off the cam bolt head like that [emoji23]. PO just slapped the carbs and mechanical pump on to have it appear “complete”, then sold it.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/68038-fuel-pump-eccentric-on-a-28l/#findComment-648100 Share on other sites

Look at the last few posts in the Z's on Bat... thread about the V-3 kit. Mechanical pump alone does not work well.
