Silver-240Z Posted January 2, 2023 Share #1 Posted January 2, 2023 Hey guys, I just had BC Racing coilovers installed on my 240Z last week with great success. Two days ago I decided to bring the front down a bit and now it rubs when I hit the brakes. Any ideas as to what I did wrong?

Zed Head Posted January 2, 2023 Share #4 Posted January 2, 2023 Where, not when. What is touching what? 1
Captain Obvious Posted January 2, 2023 Share #5 Posted January 2, 2023 I'm pretty sure the brakes are supposed to rub when you hit the brakes.

Or turn and going over bumps? Stop, turn the wheels full left and get out and look what’s close to what.
Silver-240Z Posted January 2, 2023 Author Share #7 Posted January 2, 2023 When applied the brakes make a grinding sound. No issues in corners whatsoever.
siteunseen Posted January 2, 2023 Share #8 Posted January 2, 2023 That sounds like something with the brakes to me. The coil overs aren't the problem. You should pull the wheels and see what's rubbing. Put a jack under the wheels/tires and put "weight" on them. Not free hanging. Look for shiny spots where the tires might be rubbing.
Zed Head Posted January 3, 2023 Share #9 Posted January 3, 2023 Something might be coming loose. Better check the things you touched when you installed the coilovers. 1
Yarb Posted January 3, 2023 Share #10 Posted January 3, 2023 Did you re-install the backing plates with the coil overs? The plate will flex if not installed correctly. The fundamental install is the same. Did you have the coilovers installed/welded at a shop?
heyitsrama Posted January 3, 2023 Share #11 Posted January 3, 2023 I fixed a truck this morning that had grinding when the brake was depressed.... Some of the bolts that hold the rotor to the hub had backed out, had to tap the treads, then used blue lock-tite on them... interestingly there are no snap washers on them, same on the other side... If you are rubbing while turning, or when you are over bumps, then raise the car... but like others have said, give it another look...
