Of course it is your car and will be your shroud when you find another one.

I would suggest you do not cut up another metal one and take the time to put it on whole. It functions better as designed for full coverage. 

Cutting up a fiberglass one is not as bad, but might look odd.

Yea your probably right.  Not sure I'll find a metal one anyway.  If not, I'll get the fiberglass one from Motorsport.  Talked with them today and they are currently out of stock but are expecting them back in first week of June.  Maybe something will show up between now and then.
