No brake pressure.

Hey, just yesterday I finally got my hood open after 8 months, did a oil change, put in some new gas, and charged the battery. I decided I was going to take the car out for a spin to find out I had no pressure on the brake pedal.

 

I didn’t see any leaks, fluid is full. I’m going to put on some new calipers, and brake pads due to how old and how many holes the seals on the calipers have. Plus bleeding the entire system. Any tips or pointers to look out for? Clutch seems fine.

Was the fluid light or dark?

Replace the soft lines when doing the brakes, especially if you don't know how old they are. 

Use flared nut wrenches when working on brake lines to prevent rounding the nuts for the fittings.

Bleed at the master cylinder first, then bleed the corners. The pedal going to the floor could be air at the MC.

Im replacing 3 brake lines, I had to replace the front right after a leak, but just ordered 3 right now. The fluid is dark sadly, so it definitely needs a flush.

If you're not replacing the MC, drain as much fluid as you can out of it. I like using a turkey baster to draw out the fluid and then wipe the interior of the MC with clean, lint free cloths. That way you can pull a lot of debris out of the MC.

I’ll see about potentially replacing it, but probably not. I need to clean it out, theres some debris floating in there. Is there a rebuild option for MC?

Don't overlook your clutch MC and slave in this process as it may have the same "vintage" hydraulic fluid. Change out the rubber line going into the slave just as you are changing out the brake lines.

I’ll definitely look into that, I will change the rubber line. I have semi flushed the system before, so its not entirely old fluid. Is there a part number or specific line for the slave?
