zed2 Posted January 3 Author Share #3 Posted January 3 Yikes, locating DOT approved 175R14 or 175/80R14 tires is a chore. So far these are the options: Radar Dimax Classic 175R14 88H BSW Dunlop Sport Classic | 175/80R14 88H Michelin XAS | 175HR14 88H Vredestein Sprint Classic 175HR14 Nankang NA-1 175/80R14 The choices 10 years ago were much more varied. The vehicles that used this size as OEM were: 1967-72 Mercedes-Benz (W114/ W115) 1980-83 Mercedes-Benz 240D (OE with 175R14) 1980-85 Peugeot 505 Sedan (OE with 175SR14) 1980 Toyota Celica Supra (OE with 175R14) 1981-86 Toyota Celica ST (OE with 175SR14) 1980-82 Toyota Corona DLX,LE (OE with 175R14) 1980-84 Volvo 242 DL (OE with 175SR14) 1980-85 Volvo 244 DL (OE with 175SR14) As the above models became scrapped the demand for the tire size shrunk. The hunt continues. Keith
siteunseen Posted January 3 Share #4 Posted January 3 I cranked my 240 and let it run in the garage long enough to open the thermostat and move the coolant back through the radiator. Also fresh gas in the float chambers. It's cold as ice down here, high today was supposed to be 45F but I never saw above 41. How in the name of God do you Northerners live life for half a year freezing? I only have to stay inside around 2 months if we're lucky.
AK260 Posted January 3 Share #5 Posted January 3 (edited) It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Oh and BTW people, turns out unleaded doesn’t taste very nice and makes your lips / gums burn!! I was trying to drain the fuel tank using a siphon hand pump that wasn’t working - so I had a genius idea!!! Why don’t I suck on the pipe? Being a clear pipe I can see the fuel coming and would be able to quickly remove my mouth at the right moment to point the hose into the fuel can. What could possibly go wrong? 😳 Doh! Mark Maras Posted January 4 Share #6 Posted January 4 I learned my lesson after many mouthfuls of fuel. Now I use a longer hose. 1

In Alabama we call siphoning a "Georgia gas card". In Georgia they call it "stealing gas". 😄 3

Popular Post woof Posted January 14 Popular Post Share #12 Posted January 14 New member, first post! I fixed my windshield washers. Cleaned the reservoir, replaced the motor and all the lines, and cleaned the spray nozzles. It works now, for first time in 30+ years! In the process of yanking one of the old lines off, I stabbed myself with it. Who knew that 50 year old flexible tubing would harden enough to break skin! 6
