IGNORED

What are these things and are they still needed?

There are three of them, one on the distributor, one on the coil and one near the alternator.  There is a new alternator coming with an internal regulator, the spark is going to be handled by a Pertronix II unit and the spark plugs are NGK  BPR6ES, do I need them?

Thanks

Condensers (aka capacitors) for electrical noise reduction (alternator) and protect points & electrical noise reduction (ignition). Unless you're using a stock radio or similar vintage, you don't need them.

Don't they protect the ign.points so they don't ware out faster? My 240z has the one on the ignition standard and i used the last 24 years one for 20+ years and it was still good but i installed one new after 20 years.. Cap. is still the same.. I think the points spark less with the capacitor on?

He said he's going to Pertronix II, so there won't be points.
