Door panel moisture barrier

Recommended Posts

Needs some help here. Removed the door panels prepping the car to go to paint and body shop. Trying to remove the black adhesive on the door where the plastic moisture barrier was installed. I’ve tried acetone, paint thinner and WD40. The WD40 is the only chemical that works at all but not very well. Basically turns into a slurry mess. Any help would be appreciated.

The last time I had to remove that stuff was in very hot, SC summer weather. It was a messy job but using a lot of patience, lots of rags and 3M adhesive remover worked for me. I'm not sure of a better way!  Have fun and don't forget your gloves!

I don't know if the black stuff is hard enough for it but have you tried a "caramel"- disk?  These things i used once to remove striping on a perfect painted car, went very well!

Here a example if you don't know what a caramel disk is.. is a dutch firm.. doubtless these are also available in florida!
