August 31, 2024Aug 31 comment_668817 That spring is very stiff! I don't think you can manipulate it by hand. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/69089-msa-rear-disc-e-brake/?&page=2#findComment-668817 Share on other sites
August 31, 2024Aug 31 comment_668840 Would something like this help in diagnosing the problem? This particular one has gotten mixed reviews due to flimsy construction but I think there are a few others out there. If shortening the cable with this works, they you could cut and install a turn buckle. https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/dorman-help-brake-cable-adjuster-universal-03006/5014557-P Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/69089-msa-rear-disc-e-brake/?&page=2#findComment-668840 Share on other sites

The "Y" configuration of the cable should be self-adjusting (a saddle that the cable can slide in). The above still applies. Some time on the back looking at the various cables and moving parts will probably tell the story. Part #4, the equalizer might need some lubrication, along with adjustment of the unlabeled part between 2 and 7. August 31, 2024Aug 31 comment_668843 @DocDavis I asked earlier about the brakes in general whether or not you might have air in the system. I have a similar system but using the 240sx calipers. It’s a very tight fit. I had to maneuver mine to keep the cable from binding. There have been posts in the past where guys flip flopped the cables left to right to eliminate this.
