Posted October 13, 2024Oct 13 comment_670169 This should have an LD28 crank if someone is close to it. I'm sure it will be cheap a couple of hundred dollars. Pull the engine and scrap the rest... https://www.copart.com/lot/57678294/clean-title-1981-datsun-810-co-denver Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/69126-diesel-crank/ Share on other sites
October 13, 2024Oct 13 comment_670211 That would bd a good find. Don't see any photos of the engine so I'm wondering: Does it still have the engine??? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/69126-diesel-crank/#findComment-670211 Share on other sites

I'm sure it still has the engine because it would sit higher without it. But I thought the same thing. They say diesel but it would be nice to see the engine for confirmation. If someone is close enough they can go by and inspect it. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/69126-diesel-crank/#findComment-670212 Share on other sites
October 14, 2024Oct 14 comment_670213 I might have found a clue. Picture 15 in the BaT listing below. The gas cars don't seem to have anything there. p.s. apparently you can reVIN your car with a label maker in Colorado. https://www.classic.com/veh/1981-datsun-810-maxima-jn1hu01sxbt004519-n3yxe6p/ https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1982-datsun-maxima-2/ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/69126-diesel-crank/#findComment-670213 Share on other sites
October 14, 2024Oct 14 comment_670216 You guys probably knew that already. I imagined a question about the veracity of the Copart ad for some reason. Are diesel cranks still a thing? October 14, 2024Oct 14 comment_670240 My stroker has the diesel crank. Came out of the “Patrol” in New Zealand. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/69126-diesel-crank/#findComment-670240 Share on other sites
October 14, 2024Oct 14 comment_670241 If I lived in the Denver area I'd probably buy that engine car and resell the crankshaft. Seems worth the effort. Easy money. October 15, 2024Oct 15 Author comment_670248 Diesel cranks are $1800 or more these days. $1,100 is a good price. I figure even if the car cost $500 with fees. Sell the crank. Might be able to sell the head too. Take the car for scrap for $200 - 300...
