has anyone ever drifted with their datsun Z?

My friends and I always have a big debate over what drifting is. To me, drifting is controlled, you can control the direction and input to make your car swing right, left or any other direction it can. Powerslides, to me, is sliding with no control. You can make it slide in one direction, and finish, then take off. With drifting, you can transition from slide to control and so on and so forth. Anyone have a different definition, or totally disagree?

control is subjective. with a powerslide, you can 'control' how much the tail goes out usually using throttle input and also how you countersteer.

when your car loses traction like that you're never in full control, something can always go wrong.

anyways, way i see it, when the back slides out *after* you enter the turn, mostly because you enter either too fast or give it too much throttle, that's a powerslide.

drift would require one to lose traction *before* entering the turn. then you keep the loss of traction going throughout the turn. if you're talking about the whole 'style drift' thing where you get as sideways as you can to look as cool as you can, you enter the turn sideways.

Yeah, right behind Keiichi "drift king" Tsuchiya. He helped produce a DVD called the "drift bible" and he's also one of three judges for the D1 GP professional drifting championship. Just my two cents. Check out drifting.com to see more about the best drivers in drifting.

much respect to tsuchiya. 'style-drift king,' yes, though he is a great driver with a hand in pretty much every kind of racing.

Howdy....my first post here...hows it going.

The topic asked was, who drift's their Z....

Well, I was last year in NJ..... My Z was bone stock except a wing and some flares...it still has the 1974 HP and suspention, and no LSD......does it drift...hell yeah....did I I get noticed...I only hope so. But I retired it this year, and I am building an AE86 to beat on...the Z went full garage queen after a SUV soccer Mom back into it....:(
