Posted July 7, 200321 yr comment_43063 Someone just asked me if I had "...a mustache bar for a 240..."Now as I recall the mustache bar is specific to the diff, either an R180 or an R200 and not the model Z. Is this correct? If not then what models had the same mustache bar as the 240, that is if any others were the same? July 8, 200321 yr comment_43087 Ok -- so the 240's and 260's were all equiped with the R180's (all different gear ratios can be found through the years). The 280Z all had the R200 and subsequently a different bar... Am I right 2many? -p Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/6918-mustache-bar/#findComment-43087 Share on other sites
July 8, 200321 yr comment_43090 Mustache bars are specific to the diff used. But, you can run into trouble with the 280 in the US as they used both the 180 and 200 during its model run from 75-78....The 200 bar has a different spacing (and size of mounting bolt if I remember right), for the rear diff mounting bolts. It is possible to make a 180 bar work with the 200, but you would have to slot the holes or weld them up and then re-drill them.... July 8, 200321 yr Author comment_43127 Thanx guys!! The person clarified what their needs are. He wants to put an R180 3.36 on his '76 280Z (not sure why but hey, it's his car). So in this case he does need the R180 bar from a 240 or 260.
