Posted February 10Feb 10 comment_674393 Hi Guys, is the $60 weatherstrip for windshield at ZCD a good fit? they also have a $400 OEM version. Whats the difference and is it worth it? later is backorder. What about installation experience? anyone? can it be done with the dash still ON? my last item on the list is windshield moulding. It is holding but center trip as come off as it is brittle. How hard it is to take the original one out. Remove the left and right trim from the pillars and push the rubber out? February 10Feb 10 comment_674395 I used the one from vintage rubber, and I was happy with it. I think it was $150 or so, which is a good compromise compared to $400🫤 I installed with dash in place using the typical rope method. As far as removal, carefully remove the stainless trim pieces, then use any manor of razor blades, putty knives, flat heads, etc to remove the old brittle rubber, being careful to not chip or crack the windshield. Once the rope is channeled in the rubber on the bench is it hard to fit in the grove while u pull it out? any gotchas? or just firmly position the windshield down and slowly pull the string out. Is it doable in the first try or did u make multiple attempts. I am a bit nervous taking the mirror ON and OFF again etc. May be overthinking!!! I will cut the rubber around it so that it just lifts up on it own. No prying of this. Received my vintage rubber seal. Few questions - did u use any adhesive with it anywhere? - do i need to take the rear view mirror / visors off? - Do you recommend putting the windshield first or the dash? dash is already out. I was thinking get the windshield out, put the dash in, will be easy to screw in without the glass, then install the glass. Alternately without the dash there is plenty of space to play around with the glass. Experience you can share? I was thinking to use slight in the channel where the glass would go. Putting it where I need to insert the rope would be lot more messy? Friday at 07:37 PM4 days Author comment_675173 This glass has kind of two layers. See the side pic. The brown discoloration seems to be in between the layers on the perimeter. I think most of it should be covered by the gasket. No way to remove this I guess? The discoloration is normally caused by delamination of the plastic layer in the middle from one of the pieces of glass. If most of it will be covered I would install it. I wouldn't use a sealant unless the windshield leaks.
