Posted February 27Feb 27 comment_674926 I've just started thinking about these as I near closer to completion of my old z. They weren't on when i bought the car in'93, but as I pour over pictures of original early z's, it appears they all still have them in place. Follow up question: Are the rear hooks the same dimensions as the front passenger one? February 27Feb 27 comment_674948 Rear are different to the front and even the lhs rear is different to the rhs rear; it has a slightly different angle on it from my memory. Thursday at 11:21 PM5 days comment_675152 I have my straps in a box somewhere, and decided not to reinstall them for couple reasons, 1) limit usefulness, and 2) would need complete refurbish of the metal parts and new webbing. Friday at 01:30 PM5 days Popular Post comment_675165 The memory is swirling with details of tow hooks, but I would like to point out that from the point of view of originality, the presence of tow hooks is optional. First remember they are tie down hooks, not tow hooks. They secured the car to the boat they came over on.Memory of past discussions suggests there was a Nissan order to dealers that they be removed before selling. Correct me if that’s wrong. Seems from the many Z’s I’ve seen, most still had “some” so I suspect many dealers didn’t bother. So it would appear to be “Correct” to have them or not on a restoration. If you could somehow know if they were there or not on delivery day for your particular car, then you would know to either include them or not to make it “right”.Then the issue of what particular style was installed at each of the four spots comes up, but I think that was covered in some other thread. I made a coat hook rack for the back of my shop door out of some of the ones I have laying around. Probably sacrilege to some. Too bad. Friday at 09:13 PM4 days comment_675174 Exactly one chain. Printed out a side view and laid out the chain around the outline. Took a couple of zooms in and out to get the scale down to exactly one chain. Added a couple of embellishments.Gotta do a 510 next. Can do another Z if you want!
