July 12, 200321 yr comment_43664 Might be worth it if it were restored to original condition... hard to tell with the few pics that are shown... definately would have to get rid of those wheels and put a set of originals on with perfect wheel covers, then it would be worth a second look. July 12, 200321 yr comment_43675 I really like that 240z even if it's 20k I keep seeing people asking high prices for Z's and to be honest it's not at all bothering me I like the idea that my Z will someday command a bit more than I paid for it. And after cleaning all the grease off the bottom of my car last 2 days and getting filthy as hell it doesn't make it seen like it wasn't worthwhile. I agree it's a astronomical price and I wouldn't have the money to buy it but if I did buy it I'd store it in a garage and only take it to shows etc... 2 many is right about the wheels however he might just have those on there because there nicer factory wheels than the hubcaps I'd ask if he still has a set of early Z hubcaps. BTW I've decided to start saving webpages like the ebay one and any other Z's going for astronimical prices or high prices just for future reference or insurance purposes anyone else think that's a good idea? July 12, 200321 yr comment_43676 Only reason I mentioned the wheels is because he states it is a concourse restoration.. well, not in my book it isn't... a concourse restoration would be all original. July 12, 200321 yr comment_43677 This is a great web-site to locate used parts: http://www.used-auto-parts.net/advSearch.htmOver the years, I have accumulated a lot of links for numerous aftermarket parts and accessories for Z's, but it would take a loooong time to compile them for everyone. If anyone is looking for a particular, post up, and I'll be glad to reply with a link, if I have one. July 12, 200321 yr comment_43679 I read the ad on ebay but he didn't say the paint was an original color either so that would not make it concours either Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/6928-an-idea/?&page=2#findComment-43679 Share on other sites

You can get any part for a z on ebay if you wait long enough and check often enough. You could build a z from the ground up piece by piece. Good Idea. Isn't there a Forum on the board that keeps track of E-bay auctions? Or is it just for discussing items being sold on E-bay. 6 months there was a Blue Z that sold on E-bay for over 20Kdidnt save that tho-Brandon71 240Z Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/6928-an-idea/?&page=2#findComment-43738 Share on other sites
July 12, 200321 yr comment_43740 Yes, there is a forum for posting threads relating to, or discussing cars seen on Ebay. There is also a links section where anyone can post a link to a company or site that sells Z parts, or any Z related parts, services or what have you. July 12, 200321 yr comment_43750 There is a thread in the technical articles forum called "Old Car Price Guide" that discusses what one might expect for $20,000. There are some Z's out there that would command such a price. I hope to hit that level with my restoration some day. But with that respect, originality is the primary concern. I see cars on this site I just drool over and suspect should demand equal attention.I don't think Ebay is the proper venue for such a sale; at least not for me. I would hate to think I spent all the time and effort sticking to a regime as discussed in the article just to find a lesser example reach the same price plateau. Personally I can't imagine buying any car on EBay without seeing it in person and thoroughly inspecting it first. How many ads say "rust free"? How many ads say "rust free"? I absolutely agree with you Mike. I bought my 80 280ZX off of Ebay. For the price I was paying for the car, it just wasn't worth it to me to pay for a flight to look at the car in another state, in addition to having it hauled on a carrier to my house, so I took a chance. The ad read "runs, very minor rust". Well, it has a blown gead gasket, the oil is gray and lumpy, and the frame is completely rusted, to the point that jack stands push right through it. I only paid $600 for it though, so I'm not worried about it. I can get that back from selling the parts once I finish stripping it (also has brand new tires and nice stock wheels). Anyway, that's my Ebay story. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/6928-an-idea/?&page=2#findComment-43768 Share on other sites
