When I visit the forum, I use the "Topics Last 24 Hours" option. And I poke around without signing in because it's faster, easier, simpler, and I can do it from pretty much any location or device without having to worry about any security concerns. So it's safer. When Zed Head checked, I may have been one of the 135 people viewing the forum without being signed in.

When I'm not signed in and I click on the "1 hour ago" link, it takes me to the first post in an 18 reply thread. - Undesirable
However if I DO sign in and click on the same "1 hour ago" link, it takes me to the post that was made 1 hour ago. - This is what I want

But regardless if I'm signed in or not... if I go to the All Activity page here >> https://www.classiczcars.com/discover/ and click on the "1 hour ago" link, it doesn't matter whether I'm signed in or not... It always takes me the end of the thread. (Again, which is more desirable, at least to me (and Zed Head).)

So @Mike , the code is clearly in there. Signed in or not.. Just figure out why the "all activity" page operates differently than the "last 24 hour" option. It shouldn't be a cookie thing since it would work the same way for all users.

And all of this is clearly a different discussion than "unread since last visit"... THAT most certainly requires cookies, etc. But the links we're talking about should not be a cookie or sign in thing..

And as for menu at the top. I like the way you have it now. It's there if you need it, but off the top of the screen not taking up any unnecessary space if you don't.

Oh, and something else changed recently... Couple days ago, this thread was not visible to me unless I signed in. Maybe the whole sub-forum of "website questions" was hidden to guest users? But today it's not hidden. I was able to view this thread without signing in. Obviously not able to POST in it until I signed in, but I WAS able to read it.

Not sure that's how you wanted things to work.

Thanks for the tip CO, I didn't know that other pages worked differently. I'll just start using the main Activity page now and avoid the aggravation.

Or just log in... What's the point of using guest mode?

The Activity page now lists each post instead of each Topic. Is that intentional? All a person sees today is a long list of parman's thread posts. Not much interaction there either, it seems to be a collection of old pictures and a story. Nothing wrong with that except that it's dominating the "feed".

Here is the basic answer to Mike's comment "Or just log in...". On top of the above is the effort expended to peck in the email address and password. If you use your computer for other things like banking the constant username and password inputs gets tiresome.

And, a new change - not really sure why, but the "Topics Last 30 Days" option is gone now. I suggested that way back when so that people who had not been on the site for over a day could look back over the previous few weeks. At the time the "Load More Activity" thing didn't go back very far. So if you missed a few days and nobody posted, the thread was lost in the Forum sub-titles. It's been very handy, especially when the posts were categorized by Topic. If you remembered a thread about somebody's clutch replacement and wanted to see how it had come out you could go back and find it. Can't do that easily anymore. The new post by post list doesn't work well. parman's thread is entertaining but when the whole page is parman...?

I also notice that the old problem is back on the "Topics Last 24 Hours" page. Each click takes you to the first post if you're not logged in. More clicking and scrolling required.

That's probably the key message here - reduce the number of clicks and scrolls required to get to the new stuff.

Just trying to offer some constructive feedback. I hate to be critical but the site was working really well before, like a well-tuned Z. It has a few misfires happening now.

I found the option to click to get the site back to the thread title view. Upper right, next to the auto-update comment, pasted an image below. I guess that the default is post-by-post. Not sure if it sets a cookie or not. Might have to click it each time.
