Clutch Issue?

Hi guys recently my car has been seeming like it's not going anywhere when I hit the gas.

It took me a while to come up with what I believe is the reason why and a friend helped me confirm that it's the most likely conclusion.

I believe the clutch is slipping because it seems fine on take off but when i down gear or up gear I sometimes get alot of revving but no going :).

I'm pretty sure it's an aftermarket clutch in there but not sure how long it's been there or what brand it is.

I'm wondering what you guys would recommend for a Z with ~200hp or less. I know that the stock ones are bad for launching the car :) not that i do that often but every so often I do like to give it a bit of stick.

Any recommendations ??? :classic:

Trying to keep it under the $400 mark also.

I'll also install it.

ACT or CLUTCHMASTERS, also a cheaper solution if you havent done this already would be to go with the 2+2 or turbo flywheel and 240mm clutch disc and pressure plate.

much more area for gripping and the turbo clutches seem to have a lot more clamping force.

I believe I have a 2+2 clutch I'm not sure what's the diameter of the 2+2 one?

This is why if AlfaDog is reading I didn't want to sell the flywheel with my 240k gbox.

Is getting a flywheel lightened expensive? I'd probably do this at the same time or perhaps get a better flywheel altogether :).

Getting a bit of cash flow soon may as well spend it on something I'd enjoy.

Getting a hold of a turbo flywheel or clutch might be a bit hard in AUS.

Anyone else wanna suggest anything?:classic:

machining of flywheel will cost around the $50 mark

for a Brand name clutch... check EXcedy - they will have a clutch for you at a brand name price...

personally, just go a basic heavy duty for a 2+2 flywheel, but put the 2+2 flywheel in... not sure if starter motor mod is needed but i'm sure you will sort that out....

Be mindful of poorly machined/lightened flywheels exploding at fast revolutions.

Alan Stean at z car workshop offer a lightened flywheel but im yet to receive details on it, ideally a manufactured one rather than a michined one would be the way to go.

He also offers clutches.

Depending on what info i receive I may be getting quite a bit sent down to melbourne.
