Talk about a comedy of errors.

Friday before last I received the replacement rear shock absorbers in the mail, drove "Precious" to the workshop, gave the shockies to the mechanic and asked him to call me when she was ready to go.

He rang me that afternoon to tell me that the shockies were the wrong ones, two inches too bloody long. He'd been in touch with the supplier in Sydney and the RIGHT ones would be here ASAP.

THE BLOODY THINGS ARRIVED TODAY !!!!!!

On a lighter note, ( "Precious" is a '74 model 260Z), the worn out shocks had a damn good reason for giving up the ghost. After all, they were 29 years old. Yes, thats right, they were THE ORIGINAL OIL FILLED SHOCKIES. It was only two weeks ago that they started to get noisy.

Says a lot for Datsun technology of the time.

In a way, I'm almost looking forward to the front shockies getting noisy.

Rick.

Hey Rick same thing happened to my 260z 2+2 the rears and front's were not making noise just very soft and spongy. The front left was leaking a bit of oil and apparently when i had them done the guy told me they were the original ones in there 25+ years LOL no wonder they felt vague the new ones were great transformed the entire car.

BTW why arn't you installing them yourself if mine went I'd be doing that myself instead of getting them to it again I've learnt alot about cars since then.:classic:

I would have Gav, but I'm not set up to compress the springs.

Besides, it would cut into the time I can spend on the golf course and fishing and checking out the good looking Victorians that come up here to the land of sunshine for the winter.

Off topic.

What do you play off Rick? I've just recently got back into golf (watching it on the tele:cheeky: ). Now all I have to do is dust off the clubs and get out there again. I'm going to join the local this spring and get practicing again. I realised how much I miss it when I held a club just recently.

G'Day George,

Barb and I only started playing in January this year. My h-cap is 28 and going DOWN slowly.

We love the game, play at least twice, sometimes three times a week, chuck the clubs in the caravan whenever we take off for a week or so.

I'm glad you are both enjoying it. It has to be one of the most rewarding sports around imho.

I fondly recall how I got hooked on the game after playing for a short while. It only took one swing hitting the sweet spot, not feeling whether the ball was struck or not and seeing the little white dot rise and rise. I'm hooked for life!

I'm about the same handicap. Used to play off a 25 a couple of years back but being out of practise I'd say I'm more of a 30 now. My only downfall is lack of power.

Ahh yes golf, the sport of gentlemen.

Years ago (before I was born :)) when heaps of white guys wearing white chased a black fella around, it was the Ku Klux Klan, now its called the US PGA tour. ROFL

I only ever played one round of golf, in that round, I lost 4 balls to the water on the first hole, fell in the creek looking for them, then proceeded to go through another dozen balls on the next nine holes, the straw that broke the camels back, was when a "mate" took a swing at my ball a la Happy Gilmore and got me square in the chest, I returned my rented clubs and went home. You gentlemen can have the sport.

Cheers Chris

Chris, I love it. I'll be sure to tell it to the blokes at golf on Friday.

Shame your one and only golf game was such a dismal failure. It really is a good game.

Speaking of good games, Barb tells me that the maroons are KILLING the blues.

GOTTA GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

G'Day George,

Mate, the first two games were a bloody disgrace.

Queensland DESERVED to lose both games. All credit to the Blues, they ran the maroons into the ground.

The third and final game on Wednesday night saw the cane toads play as they should have in games 1 & 2.

One consolation is that the total tally is 33 to the cockroaches and 34 to the cane toads.

Yeah I thought the Blues might step up again to take the overall lead but it looked like their spirit was gone after winning the series. Shame they couldn't give the spectators a closer match although I'm sure all the toads loved every minute of the slaughter.
