Just PM'd you with regard to data on the UK-market cars and where you might get some joy on bulk figures. I know the data for a lot of cars is held in one "Register", and its just a case of getting hold of this document and manually transposing it.

Its not an official Nissan / Datsun document; it was made by enthusiasts who set themselves a similar task to your own. I don't think its complete or up to date, but it will surely be a help?

Will send you my own numbers over the weekend too.

to the production details your 240Z is a real interesting case because it is a 70 the body serial and the engine serial can be crossed up. So before I put the information into the data base can you tell me the following in order please.

Build date - - /70

Trans -

Exterior Colour

Interior colour

This info set out like above will let me put it straight in the data base.

The information was good and I have put it in. To the build date the build plate is located I believe inside the drivers door opening, if you sit in the drivers seat with the door open look next to your left shoulder in the door opening and you should see the build plate. For your 240Z it should say build 5/70.

I think you have got a great project. Let me know what the build plate said.

Here are my cars details;

Colour Red (110)

It is a Queensland car originally and was purchased new from Laylor Motors of Woollangabba on 29.3.74. The distributor was Ira Berk of Eagle Farm.

From the Warranty and Service book it appears as though the original rego was OHM-242 Qld. Inside the warranty book on the first page is Z167 in the top corner (whatever this means!)

As a matter of interest I ran in my first Regularity event at the Historic meeting at Eastern Creek yesterday (what a hoot!!) and whilst there I put the car on the weighbridge. With about half a tank of fuel and no spare wheel it went 1074kgs.

Geoff excellent information, great depth. Thank you. I have put everything in. Your Zed has the lowest serial I have seen so far. From memory yours has the good light interior too. I am intrigued by the Z 167, could it be Ira Berks holding yard serial.

The number could be for the holding yard or similar as it is typed in the top left hand corner of the inside page of the small warranty and service booklet, below which is listed the original owner, delivery date and other Id including the key numbers. Yes, it does have the white interior.

thats probably the right thing holding yard, or could it be the shipment allocation number for delivery to Brisbane. I wish someone could tell us. As for your interior when I saw the 110 code, I remebered the colour and condition of your interior (spotless) comes to mind. A great Zed all round.

I wish the interior was that good. Whilst it is not bad it has some imperfections. Things generally look better in pics, than in real life. Like most Z owners, there is always something to do, however, I have been increasingly bitten by the track bug and at the moment handling and performance will take precedence over cosmetic mods.

if you had my interior you would cry, off white and badly sun burnt lots of top edges are gone and as you know light colour interior is very thin on the ground. I totaly agree you should always maintain your own plan no matter what. It is all about what you get back when you put the effort in. I guess I will get to Eastern Creek soon. My neighbor Shane went down this weekend to get some ideas on now to set his 240Z. He had a spare ticket he reckoned but I was headed for Taree.

I have found where the production date should be, The placard is missiing. This may be due to fact of color change. I'll contact my local Nissan dealer and see if they can come up w/some info.
