drunkenmaster Posted July 21, 2003 Share #1 Posted July 21, 2003 I am thinking of buying a set of black M3 mirrors aith indicator for the 260Zpics can be seen here:http://www.ozeparts.com.au/AM3.asp?mirror=AM35050NEB#AM3My reasoning is that i have removed the stock side indicator as I hated it and am thinking that some form of side indicator is worthwhile for both safety as well as perhaps roadworthy compliance issues.Negative points, I dont want to rice up the 260Z, but i hope the swooping lines of the mirrors may work in an understated black finish?Opinions
v12horse Posted July 21, 2003 Share #2 Posted July 21, 2003 I think these mirrors will look cool, but If most of the car is stock then they might look a little out of the ordinary. If you were going to put an airdam and some non-stock wheels, then the mirrors would fit in just fine. I have never seen those mirrors on a Z, but I am sure they would look cool. However, if you want to leave the car stock but don't like the side winkers, then you might look into to getting European turn signals. You can get them clear for the side markers too, and it looks pretty cool yet still stock. Good luck with em.Regards,Benp.s. If I would do it I would go with the European turn signals, but if I wanted that modern look I would paint the mirrors the body color.
HKSZ Posted July 21, 2003 Share #3 Posted July 21, 2003 Look good but remember you would have too cut your window glass to make them fit:ermm: I used sports mirrors similar to a ducati ss, painted them the same colour as the car, really common mirrors (K mart I think) but sporty and suit the car.If you get rid of your side repeater replace it with a clear VS holden one, perhaps before the wheel arch just a thoughtsteve
Alfadog Posted July 21, 2003 Share #4 Posted July 21, 2003 I love the mirrors, but dont think they're going to look too flash on a Z. What do you want your car to look like at the end though??? If you're going all bodykits and crap then do it, otherwise, be subtle.
drunkenmaster Posted July 21, 2003 Author Share #5 Posted July 21, 2003 Wont have to cut the class, will make up a bracket fixed to the window frame. I have seen cars use modern mirrors fixed like this and it looks great, plus i dont want to drill into my nice clean doors.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/pparaska/image/body/mirror_installed_frtv.jpgThere will be no bodykits and crap, other than a front lip.Basically im not into restoring as per it left the factory and the fact that the car didnt come with a motor, let alone matching numbers and it is a 'less valuable 260Z" put rest to that. I do however love the inherent smooth lines of the Z and deleting the side repeaters and rear bumper as I have I feel accents these lines as will mirrors mounted in this position rather than jutting out from the door skin.Just my opinion. The issue at hand is not whether i will put mirrors there or not because I will regardless, its just whether i kill 2 birds by getting these mirrors with inbuilt repeaters or something more ordinary like the pictured 240Z.Thansk for the input guys. carguyinok Posted July 21, 2003 Share #6 Posted July 21, 2003 I say go for it. :classic: It will be a good look IMO. Not over the top and still has some use in mind. I know one thing with aftermarket mirrors " You will get what you pay for" :finger:
PrOxLaMuS© Posted July 21, 2003 Share #7 Posted July 21, 2003 hey drunkenmaster... that car with those mirror's from that side angle, looks alot like an 240SX
Alfadog Posted July 21, 2003 Share #8 Posted July 21, 2003 Mmmmmmmmmm those mirrors look better than I expected... but not for me still. About your indicators, are yousure you wouldn't be able to just squeeze through without having any side indicators? Australian 240Z's never had the side indicators.......... and I agree they look 100 times better without them. The yanks even got that big ugly red rectangle on the rear side too ROFL lucky us huh? I guess if you can't get a Roadworthy without side indicators, then the mirros are probably going to be the best place to put them.. :-/ But I would paint them bodycolour. Z Kid Posted July 21, 2003 Share #9 Posted July 21, 2003 They almost look too big? Kind of like an elephant flapping its ears. Do you have a problem with the Ford Escort mirrors (other than the ford and the escort part) they look more period and seem to be a bit smaller and blend better. Z Kid Posted July 21, 2003 Share #10 Posted July 21, 2003 They are still not quite "right" in my opinion, but I think they are better than many. PS go to alfas gallery to look at them mounted on a decent car, in a better location.
drunkenmaster Posted July 22, 2003 Author Share #11 Posted July 22, 2003 I dont really want door mounted mirrors....call me strange :stupid: I think the M3 style mirrors would be smaller and wouldnt stick out as much as the mirrors pete used on that blue 240Z i posted.I guess my major concern is the styling of the M3 mirrors is too modern for the car, but they are both "swoopy"
26ounce Posted July 22, 2003 Share #12 Posted July 22, 2003 I think those black mirrors will look great if combined with tinted windows and blacked out chrome like Petes. It will give it a subtle modern look IMO. No way it would look ricey unless you got the chrome finished mirrors and combined it with stickers, large rear wing and a classy set of neon lights underneath.
