Posted July 24, 200321 yr comment_45092 1978 280z 4speed – This started as a project car, and still remains one. I bought it in early June of 2003, but after further research, a restoration wasn’t plausible, the funds weren’t there. Although it is a 1978 car, the motor is an 83 with about 110,000 miles. The odometer reads otherwise, but those are roller-over miles from the previous motor. The carpets were bad so they were removed completely, as with the rest of the interior. The seats are in top condition, the drivers side has a 2 inch slice in the vinyl- that’s all I could find wrong. The passenger seat is great. Center console is in great shape as well. Headliner is in fine shape too. Dash has a cap on it now, but the underlying surface is still fine- no cracks or imperfections that I could find. The steering wheel is removable, and has its own key. Fender flares have been installed to accommodate larger wheels and tires. The wheels on it now are 16 inch aftermarket mags. The right front tire is flat from some dry rot- it will have to be replaced. The car has a ton of extras- 2.5 inch Monza exhaust, Sebring intake, 4 speed tranny (pulls better than a 5speed), sun roof which does not leak a drop, and louvered side and rear windows. The frame has major rust problems- there is a large hole in the drivers side foot-well floor, and the frame rail is gone there as well. THE CAR DOES NOT RUN, to be clear on that. But with some electrical work you can probably get the thing going. Clutch lines need to be bled, as with the brake lines. There are 2, 120 watt 4 ohm resistance pioneer speakers installed behind the seats- both work fine, I tested them. There is no head unit, although most of the speaker wire has been run in the car itself. This is a great project or parts car, with tons of potential. Just being in my driveway for a couple months turned heads- imagine the attention it will get when it is on the road. I am sorry to have to give up this car, but I have neither to time nor money to put into it. If you own another 280 Z you are restoring, this is the perfect donor vehicle. If you want to restore it, this is also feasible (just not in my price range right now) but it can be done. I am located 20 minutes outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Buyer will arrange all shipping/pick up. PM me if you have any questions or want any specific pictures.asking price is $350. August 11, 200321 yr comment_46769 If you are interested I have a set of wheels that are made by American Racing and almost identical to these. They are 15x8 with a little too much backspacing for my taste. The have a very thick mounting flange and would need longer wheel studs. They have Pirrelli 196/65 tires on them with probably less than 2K miles on them. You wouldn't be able to use a wider tire unless you go to adjustable coil-overs though. The tires as they sit now only have about 3/8 clearance from the stock spring perch. They were on a car that I bought, and I am changin over to Panasports and would like to ge tthese out of my garage. Here's a couple pics of them, if you are interested, send me a PM and we can discuss a price.
