July 31, 200321 yr Author comment_45578 Should have bought one when I had the money but decided to get the vented one for $250 and paint it for $500 ouch. The paint job was $^!# and after wet sanding and taking it back it didn't get any better the painter said he can't do much without going back to bare metal but I spent over $1000 fixing up the front of the car and removing water marks from the fenders. Should have just got a bonnet new and got it painted and I'd be happier with it . Ah well when I've finished study I guess I'll change these annoyances . July 31, 200321 yr comment_45599 What about putting vents in the service flap thingos instead of the bonnet. Would have to rig up some sort of drip tray under them for winter, to stop rain soaking the battery. But they are easier to get hold of than bonnets, and cheaper too. July 31, 200321 yr comment_45650 I have a friend that vented his hood back when it was the fad.His thoughts are that it looks great! The down side is If you get into rain the water WILL run into the engine It will cause rust, running problems.Spray your engine with a hose and go for a ride. The other was dust entry into the engine compartment as well as cleaning the darn little slots!!Getting wax out is a big job.Garage queen-no problem.Daily driver= hours of enjoyment if you like cleaning your Zcar:love: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/7203-vented-or-not/?&page=2#findComment-45650 Share on other sites
July 31, 200321 yr comment_45661 I remember Zpeed had a vented bonnett on his last car and he was'nt happy with rust starting to build up on the section that water would drip through the vents. November 25, 200321 yr comment_58310 Took delivery of my new OEM vented bonnet yesterday - AUD$680 ex Japan, about 2 weeks wait. Vents were ~AUD$80 each ex Melbourne.I'm dropping it into the painters tomorrow morning - it's getting the satin-black treatment. It's as close at getting a Z432 that I'm likely to get!
