Posted July 30, 200321 yr comment_45552 has anybody here tried this muffler? how do you like it? how did it sound?i heard from sombody that manages a independantly owned exaust shop, that the best "glass-pack" type muffler i could get would be a twister.i'm planning in getting a new 2 1/2" custum exaust system done soon. btw, my car is a 240z mostly stock, soon to be built for autox.here is the website:http://shop.ivalueinternet.com/bigexhaust/index.cfm/action/productdetail/product_id/551.htmthanks Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/7249-twister-muffler-bs-or-does-it-work/ Share on other sites
July 30, 200321 yr comment_45553 I'm not familiar with the twister, but it looks like a nice unit. However, it does specify that it's a race muffler, intended to reduce noise levels at a race track. You have to wonder if it would be quite enough for street use. If you install them, let us all know how they sound. Good luck! July 31, 200321 yr comment_45561 Seems like that would create more backpressure in the system than the Borla's, Flowmasters, or other mufflers that use the chambers instead of the fiberglass packing. Also note, on the bottom of that page, it says the item is not returnable... hmm, wonder if that's because so many people are unhappy with them? Don't see that printed on most of the other sites for "race" type mufflers.... although most people would take that as a given that you can't return it after use.... July 31, 200321 yr comment_45610 I'd have to agree with 2Many. You want to get the exhaust out of the system as quickly as possible. It sure looks like the cork-screw shape would create a bit too much back pressure -- it's more of a gimick than anything -- in my opinion. While Z cars require a bit of back pressure, too much will choke it. I'd stick with a flowmaster or another proven muffler.
