theres a locking key switch under my ashtray on my 73 240z... what is it used ofr.. i replaced the parkin brake and i saw that the wires are cut that go to it.. thx,

Sounds like an old kill switch that worked via a key lock. It was probably installed by the previous owner and disconnected since. It just would have killed the ignition to stop thieves.
