Firstly, sorry if this is the wrong forum but i wasn't really sure, not relaly talking engine parts or anything. Also i may have to get it today so i'm in ahurry to learn stuff :)

But as some of you know i just bought a rusty car, there is a very clear 2+2 crashed shell (all damage up front wher ei have no rust)

and i'm wondering if the drip rails will be useable on my Z? how much longer etc are they and are they the same angle across that bend? - or close to

also what about in front of the rear tires there

would that be the same so i can cut it out for the 240?

and is the tailgate slam panel useable too?

my panel beater has said the more panels i can get a hold of, the cheaper it will be, as he wont have to work out how to make them, so i'm wondering should i buy this wreck and get him to work with whats on it!?

thanks HEAPS, Charles

Rule # 1.

Never, Never ever throw anything zed related away. Whether it's from 2+2 or a 2 seater, many parts interchange[ amny don't also]. Who knows, one day you may come across a clean 2+2 for nothing [wishful thinking] that's worth putting on the road. It's at that time you'll regret ever throwing out those parts.

Stash them under the house, wherever you can find space.

Then as time allows compare parts that you're needing.

Good luck!

The tailgate slam panel may be useable if not you can always cut it down. The 2+2 is slightly wider not sure how much but it isn't much.

The drip rails are longer and won't curl down the same as the 2 seater so I don't know how useful they will be to you.

The wheel arch's are all the same size 2+2 or normal 2 seater so I don't know if that helps with your other question.

Hope that helps.

thanks for the replies guys

i dont intend throwing them out

but what i have come across is a completely clean 2+2 for a few hundred, that has had a big front right impact,

i know the various pieces are slightly bigger and such

i was just curious what everyone thought as to how successful they'd be, would a panelbeater be able to shape them correctly?

thanks

Charles

All I know is alot of stuff has to be fabricated all the time but your probably best off asking your panel beater about it.

Using the 2+2 as a template might not always be a good idea

As they are different from the windscreen back.

thats what i wanted to know :)

thanks heaps

so its best to get something fabricated then i suppose, Bballs in brisbane does it and i've already had a chat to him about it, makes most of what i need by the sounds, but it'll work out dearer than the 2+2 shells

:)

IF BBALLS does it then I'd suggest go with him because he most likely has alot more experience making those panels than your panel beater and it may be more expensive but it could save you alot of time $$$ and headaches down the track if you arn't happy with your panel beaters work.

Just an opinion.:classic:
