Trying to trace footwell water leak

Cheers Steve,

Yes...I need to keep it going as it will be our 2nd car and I just love the smile it puts on my face. Went for a blast around the Port Hills here in Christchurch (actually an extinct volcano) with a summit road that runs half way around the top. Just the ticket for a Sunday blast. Lots of tight corners and ups and downs....yum yum. Used to be my favourite motorcycle route when I had my RGV.

Anyway...I have given myself 2 years to get it to what I consider good. Here's wishing me luck...I'm goin to need it.

Check the Fresh Air Vent connection to the Heater Intake Flapper Valve. That's the box BEHIND the blower motor which is bolted to the firewall. The connection to the "chimney" is actually Pllumber's Putty. This stuff takes eons to get hard, but can and will get hard and then fall off.

Also check the complete bottom of the cowl pan as well as the drain hoses.

Best bet for new hoses is to try and get some from a car that is being parted out.

They are available new from Nissan but the early 240z ones have been superceeded by the later 260z style ones. The difference in them is that the later style 260z ones have their own sealing flange grommet formed around them whereas the 240z style uses separate grommets to the hoses for where the hose passes through the inner fender area.

If you are not going for 100% originality I would contact Nissan and order a new pair of them and replace both sides.

If you need the part number check out www.carfiche.com

Hope this helps you out.

Regards

Joseph
