HELP!! low compression on 4 cyl. in Dallas

LanceM thats a classic story; not recommended but imagining that scene would've been something to laugh at; well I suppose you can now looking back and injury free from it!

I guess we all do crazy things sometimes when it comes cars, where would we be without this sense of creativity and ingenuity?!

Well,

I put the other 'virgin' L28 in my car, compression is low but drivable. I was going to pull the head from the bad motor I pulled out of the car and send it to the head shop and have it checked out. I pulled the head and found out why the compression was all messed up on a motor that was recently rebuilt - BAD MATH! the head wad obviously redone - and shaved, and I pulled it off and in the top of what where obviously new pistions, 2 little valve shapped indentions on the top of each!!!!! so much for that. Now I have to pull the head off the motor thats in the car and send it off for work. Probably new seats guides and the whole works. And I have a spare motor with worthless pistons certainly bent valves and lord knows what else.

For those who remember this sorted saga,

blown motor, broken exhaust stud, broken head bolt and...

put a $150 low milage 42 head from zcarparts in Houston (Thanks Kin!) on a $50 motor from some kids garage and what do you get,

170, 170,170,170,170,165

sure beats

120, 20, 80, 120, 20,10

running a little rich, I'm troubleshooting that now. Gots loads of usefull t-shooting info for dealing w/ that (search function still works well ) I'm suspecting water temp sensor/plug and a broken wire on the afm at the moment.
