Falken Tyres

Has anyone here had experience with the Falken slick used for track running?

Just after opinions as I am thinking about getting a set.

havent tried the falkens have used the Yokohamas aoo8rs and bridgestone re540 found the bridgestone fantastic compared to the yokos

Big improvement over normal performance tyres really get your skils up on track or stages

these two are road street legal race tyres mainly for targa and road rallies

Have been told good things about the silverstone race rubber Alan stean at the Z car wqorkshop in Qld is agent for them told they are much cheaper about $200 each and work well

I guess you're talking Falken GRBs

I use these on my car 205/60/14, good sticky tyre and good price at $170 - 180

my ultimate choice would be bridgestone potenza's, but that could be pushing $240 :cross-eye

Unfortunately I forgot to get the code and not sure if they are GR8's but they are a street legal tyre with minimum tread but using a much softer compound than the Yoki A032.

They cost around $195 each which is cheaper than the Yoki.

I assume you are referring to the Falken Azenis, which is the road legal race tyre. I have used them on the 260 a couple of times and previously had them on my Pulsar SSS. http://www.falkentire.com/

For the price I believe they are quite good when compared to Dunlops and Yoko's. Mine are only 195 60x14 as that was the size for the Pulsar and whilst they still have a bit of use left in them I have been looking for some new tyres to buy later.

Through this site I have picked up on the Kumho Victoracer V700 and the Ecsta V70A.

From comments I have read they seem to be highly regarded in the States. I contacted Kumho in Sydney and they say they are just starting to import them and referred me to an agent.

The other tyre I checked out was the Toyo RA1 which also seem to be quite good and which are readily available down here. http://www.toyo.com/tires/tire_lines/high_perf/ra1.html

My ultimate decision will naturally depend upon, price, size availability and wear/grip. I want them as a spare set to run in sprints and regularity.

This has probably become more confusing than helpful!!

Thanks for all the info.

The tread pattern on the ones I was talking about don't seem to match anything in the Falken catalogue.

The shop that I was talking to (highly respected in race industry) said that they are better than the Yoki A032 as they heat up in seconds, not a lap.

He said they would be great from hillclimbs and sprints where you don't get a warm up.

I am going to have to go back there and find out what they are but they were sitting amongst the slick tyres (Slicks aren't in the Falken catlaogue either:cry:
