I live in South Aus and i have just put a L28 into my 240Z and you do not need to go through Regency Park. In SA you can put in a RB20, RB25, RB26, RB30, L26 & L28 Non Turbo's by just changing you engine number with motor rego. once you put a turbo in you will have to get an engineers cert and go through Regency Park.

hey all,

ok right on top of the little fuel wells it has Brittish SU Carburettor company writeen on there (or something along those lines) it also has the 3 screws...

Also i have no idea how to adjust the floats and the carbys are now in my car....

the numbers on the inlet manifolds are N36 (water cooled)

and the head is an E88...

@ raman, so if i chose to put an RB26 engine in my 260 that wont have to go through regency???

that would be cool but id really like to stick with the original engine for now...

so the jap carbs are a better than the brittish?!?! whats a decent seccond hand set worth???

i dont have much money as im only a young kid (17) and this is my first car and i pretty much spent most of my money on a new engine for it... so if theres any cheap options i would also like to hear them... but i dont want to comprimise performance really

I prefer the Jap SU's because I had a set once that

where in good condition and I was able the set them up to

run the way I wanted. ( Lean or rich )

It depends on the condition of the carbys first then the setup

procedures. If you get the both good your home.

The Brit SU's I had before needed an overhaul thats why

they were cheap. It was just a bad decission I'd say if they

did not need an overhaul they would have been OK.

The carbys you have might be OK the Brit SU's. The only way

to know is to is to put them on and get the engine running.

Then take them to a Mini wreakers and ask questions. They

will be able to help normally if if not busy they like to help.

I'll send you the info I have on the 240Z SU,s if they are same

layout with the mixture needle at the bottom and the float

chamber on the side the same setup should help get them

running. Taking them to a place that works on them all the time

will confirm any problems with the SU's.

You have two sets the 260Z and the Brit SUs normally what

happens people take the 260 carbys off because they don't

know how to set them up or because or they are shot.

My quess is the Brit SU's are the replacements. Put them

on and see if they are any good. They could be OK. That

will save you dollars. You will Pay $250-$350 for 240Z

carby's from wreakers and you might pick up a set that

needs an overhaul? Hit our Miss!!Overhaul Kits sell for

$150 US then you have shipping on top $40 to $150 US.

Taking that into account Ztherapy sell them around the

$550 Mark reconditioned.

Carb specialist in Adelaide Charge around the $550 AU

to overhaul the British SU's if my memorys any good.

See how you go with the Brit carbys if they need an

overhaul. I would sell them Cheap for $200-250 and put

the rest to it for 240Z Carby's form Ztherapy. Peace of

mind you Know what your getting then.

youch, well i dont think ill be buying a 240z set of carbs...

ill see how theese britt ones go...

i know the britt carbs work (they ran my old motor) but how good is the thing, well i spose ill try & get my new motor running & get the carbs tuned up & see how it goes from there.
