Got a reply back yesterday and word from our warehouse is that the shorter shock (one with the silver piece) is the new one that they're shipping. We can ship you the newer style one and take back the old style one. Please let us know what you'd like to do.

Sooooooo.... While this isn't exactly "another 1st gen. Z-car strut manufacturer discontinuing the model", it is somewhat in that direction.... If this is accurate, if you order Tokico non-adjustables (blue) strut cartridges in the future you will be getting:

For the front: HZ3015 (actually a re-badged HZ3038) remains the same.

For the rear: HZ3016 will be a HZ3038 (same as front) with a 2" extension pressed on to the bottom to make up the extra length. Kinda 'double rebadged'!

Of course (and again, it depends on this information being accurate) these will be shipped as existing stocks are depleted.

The only difference between the old 3016 and the new 3016 will be the new one will be SLIGHTLY stiffer--due to the extra rod length.

great effort, working thru the frustration. thanks for following it to conclusion. I think we has all kinda thought that Tockico was doing something like that, we know the facts now.

To Tockico being another manufacturer stopping production on parts for early series Z, not yet( for USA) so glad to hear that. I wish they had stayed in the AUSTRALIAN market, they pulled right out of the market and we are limited to inporting these fine strut inserts. And we will!!!!!!.

So...I played a bit with my digital scale today. The new strut takes 24.7 lbs to push it down to the same height as the old one (when brand new, of course). So you can say the new strut will add 25 lbs to your spring rate. That cool, I guess. Also, the new strut weighs 5.2 lbs and the old one weighs 5.6 lbs. So that is cool too, I guess!

Another week has gone by....Still waiting for my strut. Over a month since my original order was placed. If Alan's struts get here from England before my replacement one from Los Angeles, I am going to seriously nut up.

This is getting SOOOO old....

Hi Steve,

KONIS are boxed / packed up and ready to go - but not sent yet. We've had a postal-workers strike which has slowed the system down and I didn't want the package getting lost in strike-torn limbo land.

They are leaving London tomorrow ( Friday 10th ) and should be in your hands around 15th or 16th if all goes to plan.

Is "nut up" American slang for going crazy or does it literally mean doing up nuts on your car?:ermm:

Aha, I see.

Well - where I come from ( London ), to 'nut' somebody means to give them a head-butt. This usually results in a broken nose for the victim and a very sore forehead for the assailant.

If it does not work properly it can mean broken noses, teeth and jaws all round.

Up in Scotland, they call this the "Glasgow Kiss"..................

Well, another week has passed and still no strut. Perhaps there is a tracking number you could pass on to me? My rear suspenion is back from the machine shop and has been sitting here since Monday. I am so disappointed with customer service at AUTOCARPARTS.com. My credit card bill (since that really IS the ONLY receipt, invoice or packing slip of any kind I have on this order) says I was charged for my merchandise on September 6th, a mere THIRTY THREE days ago. Does that seem fair to you? How long would you wait before invoking the warranty clause in your credit card and deny charges? I could have WALKED down there and picked up this stupid strut by now. Be sure and send a voucher for the return shipping on the strut being returned. I will not be shipping it freight prepaid. I feel I have invested far too much time and effort in this fiasco already, and re-packaging the strut and arranging in my schedule to take it to the UPS depot will be tha absolute extent of my generosity.
