The wheels themselves may be balanced but what about the tyres? It is common practice to get the wheels balanced with the tyres fitted. Any decent tyre seller can do that, IMHO the self adhesive balance weights which go on the inner part of the wheel rim, inside or out, are the best. If for some reason that cannot be done, then there are the weights which clip onto the edge of the rim, right where the tyre meets it.

Take it to a better equipped tire shop... sounds like they are using a balancing machine that is a bit old and they can't balance it the way it ought to be... Most of the new balancing machines are computer controlled and they can specify whether the weights are to be mounted on the inside or outside of the rim and the machine will spin balance them accordingly. Take it somewhere that the local "ricers" do.....you know they wouldn't put weights on the outside of those 18-20 inch wheels that have no backspacing....:ermm:

hey guys

det260....the tires were on the rims when I took the car in

2many... they are using a puter to balance the tires

and the wieghts are on the inner rim ,they told me they can't

do it correctly because the wieghts are on the inside of the rim

they're the clip on type...

i took em in there cuz they do free balance and rotation when you buy thier tires, but they can't seem to help me:ermm:

so ill take your advise and take em somewhere else ...

maybe i'll have better luck.....

thanks guys

The self adhesive weights are by far the best option. The clip on type look off and the clip itself can cause a slow air leak. Happened to me.
