Posted September 19, 200321 yr comment_50235 Hey there,Aussie here....i had a quick search and didn't find anything specific about the mountsI am wondering how to go about getting mounts made for the new engine, and how much i should be willing to spend on the mounts... Also aussies - what legal dramas are there with putting an RB20DET in? September 20, 200321 yr comment_50326 Talk to member Cuong Nguyen, he is making the kits including sump etc for the RB's. Type his name in the search window & it should pop up.Nick. September 20, 200321 yr comment_50332 I went to the local Z specialists and they were fitting an Rb26 to a 240z, I asked about it and they said mounts are actually available off the shelf a store. Im not 100% on which store, but castlemaine rod shop springs to mind. September 20, 200321 yr Author comment_50339 I had a quick chat to cuong, and he's stopped making them!Drunkenmaster - do you have any contact details for the people you spoke too.. Were they "240 rb26" mounts off the shelf:) or were they stock mounts for some other engine that just happened to work right:)So does anyone out there know what i've got to do to make the sump fit?And where i can find some mounts? Also can anyone CONFIRM that you can't mount an rb20det onto the crossmembers themselves. as i'm told you can by a few people... confirm means you've tried and it didn't work.. not "i haven't heard that before":) (sorry)Also, are the mountst he same for the whole RB series? meaning an rb26 mount fits an rb20 also? and even rb30?thanks again guys, Charles Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/7981-rb-mounts-and-things-of-that-sort/#findComment-50339 Share on other sites
September 20, 200321 yr comment_50422 Charles,To make the sump fit it's just a matter of cutting it 10mm below the bolting face all the way around, turning it around 180 deg & welding it back on. Do the welding while you have the sump flange bolted up as this will stop warpage. Next you have to cut the oil pick up & position it correctly for welding. All RB engine mount brackets bolt up in the same spot in the block, the only differences are some are made of alloy & others made of steel. Go for the steel type, easier to cut & weld for the slight mods required.Hope this is of some help.Nick.
