Posted September 24, 200321 yr comment_50716 I was wondering what the advantages of keeping the stock 280z 4 speed manual, over the 5 speed are, if any. Basically it's just to convince myself into keeping the 4 speed (and saving my money), but I want you to give me your honest opinion. Thanks as always.Joey Penniman Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/8055-just-a-quick-tranny-question/ Share on other sites
September 24, 200321 yr comment_50718 Joey It might come in handy down the road. They don't take up much room when you stand them on the bell housing. It could be the extra $250.00 for the car if you ever sell it. Mostly you should keep it because it came on the car originally. September 24, 200321 yr comment_50744 Advantages are:Not having to find a 5 speed box and part with the cash to buy it.Not having to crawl around under the car to remove the old 4 speed and fit the five speed.Disadvantages:Not having the high gear for cruising at high speed but with lower engine revs. Might even save some petrol.Having the sporty state of mind when flooring it through all 5 gears.... priceless.
