Posted October 9, 200321 yr comment_52557 I am in need of the driver's side interior quarter panel in the original 72 red. I can find them in black for replacments, but really don't want to change the color of the entire interior to match. Tried vinyl die before, it tends to scratch if something touches it. anybody have a prts car with the right color?Devin aka 72240Z Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/8303-looking-for-red-240-interior-panel/ Share on other sites
October 15, 200321 yr comment_53207 This probably isn't the place to put it but I have a used set on Ebay now. I tried to give them away for a couple of weeks w/o any takers. The set is ok if you drive the car regularly. One of the quarter panels is cracked completely around where a rivet goes so it is missing near the top. Overall for 30 year old parts, I would say they are ok. Certainly not show parts but they were in my 240 when it was driven daily. November 28, 200321 yr comment_58708 Devin,If you can't come up with an acceptable replacement part in red, go ahead and get one in black. Take one of your existing pieces to any reputable auto paint supplier and get them to match the colour. The trick to using vinyl paint is to be sure and spray the part first with an appropriate adhesion promoter. This will seal the vinyl and allow the paint to adhere properly so the color will go on evenly and won't peel. All auto manufacturers, including Datsun, have painted vinyl pieces from time to time.I've repainted faded dashes with excellant results. No fading or peeling, even with exposure to direct sunlight.
