What did you thinks about this parts of my car, what is the best way to repair?

I thinking to unspot the weld of the reinf hood ledge to treat the the rust inside but can i find only the upper parts of the hood ledge (in England?)

For the part under the head lamp case what is the best way?

Unfortunately, the panels you need to replace are panels that no one has ever made patch panels for. The only thing you will be able to do it either get replacements off another car that are in better shape, or fabricate them and weld them in.

The one good thing about these spots is that they are hidden, so the panels won't have to be fabricated to match them exactly.

FWIW, usually the areas you've shown, are not common rust areas, usually these areas are damaged in accidents, but I don't think I've seen many that rusted out like this.

I think you can cut out the rust spots and weld new metal patches, Bpaccaud. Bend new metal to fit the rail along the top. Cut out the rust at the hood hinge and weld in new metal flush with the surrounding fin. Grind it smooth again.

The good question is how to treat the inside of the upper frame rail and stop it from rusting from the inside out. I have the same problem. I might suggest treating the inside with phosphoric acid - a common painter's chemical for treating rusted surfaces prior to painting. Drill a small hole at the end of the frame and spray inside with a long tube spray nozzle like a pump pressure garden sprayer. Make several applications, allowing the acid to dry between time. You can probably spray paint up in there the same way.

I've commonly seen this type of rust on vehicles that tend to get parked bneath small leaved trees, (short pine needles, willow's, etc).

The leaves fall off the trees, land in the area behind the inspection doors, then get washed down along the top of the Fresh Air Vent Tunnel to the front part of the engine compartment. Unfortunately, almost every Z I've seen that has NOT had the fenders removed, will undoubtedly show a lump of body sealant compound that they used. Unfortunately that lump is actually closing off the drain holes for this part of the car.

For those of you who haven't removed their front fenders, check this drain hole, and make sure that it isn't plugged.

As far as a repair, I'd do a simple braze replacement and then POR it well. Welding would be ideal, but you're not going to be able to get in to all the crevices there.

So, FWIW, I would sandblast the area, then braze replacement metal and finally POR.

first, thanks all!!!!

What did you thinks about the product "naming" Rustol (if it exist in USA or somewhere else)

Is it compatible with welding (after having past the product?)

And what is his compatibility with the original paint material for datsun?

Phosphoric acid must be rinse with water and it can be a problem for the inside area (with a bad rinsing the acid can eat the body probably...) and (if water don't dried well it can be a problem too)

So the rustol perhaps can be a best idea because it protect the body and convert the rusting parts rather than distroy the rust!

Give me your idea....

From what I have seen the left side rusts more than the right I have made some dies and can reproduce the sheet metal for the left side you can contact me at kiwijoeford@gmail.com if there is interest in the right side I may make dies for them as well.
